1. Introduction

ExamProx ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our exam simulator platform.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and a hashed version of your password. We never store passwords in plain text.

Payment Information

Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription ID for billing management but never store credit card numbers, CVVs, or other sensitive payment details on our servers.

Uploaded Content

When you upload files for conversion, we temporarily process the file content to extract exam questions. Uploaded files are stored securely on AWS S3. Generated .examx files are also stored on AWS S3 and associated with your account.

Usage Data

We collect information about how you use the Service, including exam attempts, scores, and analytics data. This data is used to provide you with progress tracking and performance analytics.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
  • Process your file uploads and generate practice exams
  • Process payments and manage your subscription
  • Send you important account notifications
  • Provide customer support
  • Generate analytics and performance reports for your account
  • Improve and optimize the Service

4. AI Processing

We use OpenAI to process extracted text and identify questions, answers, and explanations. The text content sent to OpenAI is used solely for the purpose of generating your practice exams and is not used to train AI models. We do not send any personal information to OpenAI — only the raw text extracted from your uploaded files.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using industry-standard security practices:

  • Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage
  • All data in transit is encrypted using TLS/HTTPS
  • Files are stored securely on AWS S3 with appropriate access controls
  • Database access is restricted and authenticated
  • JWT tokens are used for session management with appropriate expiration

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share data with:

  • Stripe — for payment processing only
  • AWS — for file storage and content delivery
  • OpenAI — for AI-powered question extraction (raw text only, no personal data)
  • MongoDB Atlas — for database hosting

7. Community Features

If you choose to share exams publicly through the community library, the exam content (questions and answers) will be visible to other Pro subscribers. Your account name will be displayed as the creator. You can remove shared exams at any time.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account data and generated exams even if your subscription expires, so you can access them if you resubscribe. You may request complete deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting support.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal data
  • Request deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Export your .examx files at any time
  • Opt out of non-essential communications

10. Cookies

We use essential cookies and local storage for authentication (JWT tokens) and session management. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies.

11. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Significant changes will be communicated via email.
